Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Lentera Kesehatan Masyarakat (JLKM) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scientific publishing. As part of our commitment to ethical research and scholarly communication, the journal enforces a rigorous anti-plagiarism policy that applies to all manuscript submissions.
1. Originality of Manuscripts
Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are entirely original and have not been published or submitted elsewhere for consideration. Submissions must reflect the authors’ independent work and appropriately acknowledge the contributions of others.
2. Plagiarism Screening Procedures
All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using reliable detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate prior to the peer review process. The acceptable similarity threshold is 20% or less, excluding references, direct quotations, and properly cited excerpts. Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be subjected to further scrutiny.
3. Categories of Prohibited Plagiarism
To maintain academic integrity, the following forms of plagiarism are strictly prohibited:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Reproducing text or ideas from another work without appropriate citation.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one’s previously published content without proper acknowledgment or citation.
-
Patchwriting: Making superficial modifications to source material while retaining its original structure and meaning without citation.
-
Unattributed Borrowing: Failing to credit the original source for paraphrased ideas, data, or conceptual frameworks.
4. Editorial Actions Upon Plagiarism Detection
In cases where plagiarism is identified, JLKM will apply corrective measures in proportion to the severity of the violation:
-
Minor Similarity (<20%): Authors will be requested to revise their manuscript and provide appropriate citations.
-
Moderate Similarity (20–40%): The manuscript will be returned for substantial revision or may be rejected.
-
Severe Similarity (>40%): The manuscript will be immediately rejected. The authors may be subjected to sanctions, including a ban on future submissions to the journal.
5. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and authenticity of their work. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JLKM reserves the right to retract the article in accordance with its retraction policy. The retracted article will be clearly marked and appropriately communicated to indexing bodies.
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Lentera Kesehatan Masyarakat, authors formally agree to comply with this plagiarism policy and uphold the principles of academic honesty.
