Correction and Retraction
Correction and Retraction Policy
Jurnal Lentera Kesehatan Masyarakat (JLKM) is committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record. Changes to published articles may only be made under the circumstances described below, in accordance with best practices in academic publishing.
1. Retraction
An article may be retracted under the following conditions:
-
Evidence of plagiarism, data falsification, or unethical research conduct;
-
Major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions;
-
Redundant publication or breach of journal policy.
Retractions may be initiated by the author(s), the Editor-in-Chief, or the publisher. Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for retraction and indicate who is responsible for the decision. The original article will not be removed but will be clearly marked as retracted, and a retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article. In cases where all authors do not agree with the retraction, this will be explicitly stated.
2. Correction
Corrections (also called errata) are issued to address significant errors that affect the understanding or accuracy of the article, such as:
-
Errors in data presentation or analysis;
-
Mislabeling of figures or tables;
-
Incorrect author details or affiliations.
Corrections do not invalidate the findings of the article and will be published in a separate notice, which is linked to the original article. The corrected version may replace the previous one if appropriate, while maintaining access to earlier versions for transparency.
3. Publisher's Note
A Publisher’s Note may be issued in cases of production errors or metadata issues that occurred during typesetting, such as incorrect author names, titles, or affiliations. These are minor and non-scientific corrections made by the journal's production team. Publisher’s Notes will be published free of charge and linked to the corrected article version.
4. Removal of Articles
Article removal is extremely rare and only considered in exceptional cases where:
-
The article is defamatory or violates legal rights;
-
It contains sensitive personal data;
-
A court order requires removal.
In such cases, bibliographic information (title and author names) will remain visible to preserve the scientific record.
5. Timeframe for Post-Publication Changes
Authors may request corrections to published articles within 7 days of online publication. After this period, corrections will be made only if they are significant and approved by the editorial board.
