Author Guidelines

1. Scope and Originality

• Manuscripts must be original and must not be under consideration by another journal. Preprints are permitted when disclosed in accordance with the Article Sharing and Self-Archiving Policy.
• JLKM accepts original research articles, literature reviews, editorials, and brief reports within its public health scope.
• Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English using clear academic language.

2. Double-Blind Submission Requirements

• Upload an anonymized main manuscript. Remove author names, affiliations, email addresses, acknowledgments, and identifying information from the review file and its document properties. Use a filename that does not identify the authors.
• Enter each author's full name, affiliation, country, email address, ORCID iD when available, and correct author order in OJS. Identify one corresponding author and provide author contributions in the declarations.
• Restore author information after acceptance when requested by the editorial office. The final manuscript, OJS metadata, published PDF, and DOI metadata must be consistent.

3. Length and Article Types

• Original research articles and literature reviews: recommended length of 4,000–6,000 words, excluding references and appendices.
• Brief reports and editorials: concise manuscripts with a length and number of references appropriate to their purpose, subject to editorial assessment. The 4,000–6,000-word recommendation does not apply to these article types.
• Literature reviews should explain how evidence was identified and assessed. Brief reports must provide sufficient methods, findings, or evaluation to support their conclusions. Editorials should present a reasoned, evidence-informed discussion.

4. Manuscript Structure

• Title: concise, informative, and no more than 12 words; avoid unexplained abbreviations.
• Abstract: provide Indonesian and English versions, each in one paragraph of no more than 250 words without citations. Research and review abstracts should summarize the background, objective, methods, principal findings, and conclusion. For other article types, use a summary appropriate to the content.
• Keywords: three to five specific terms, separated by semicolons.
• Original research: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments when applicable, Declarations, and References.
• The Introduction should explain the research problem, relevant evidence, research gap, contribution, and objective. Methods should describe the design, setting and period, participants or data sources, instruments, data collection, analysis, and ethical safeguards.
• Results and Discussion should report findings clearly, interpret them in relation to existing evidence, and address limitations and implications. The Conclusion should answer the objective without introducing new results.
• Reviews, editorials, and brief reports may use headings suited to their article type while retaining the required declarations and references.

5. References and Formatting

• Use APA Style, 7th edition, consistently. Reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is recommended.
• Research articles and literature reviews should include at least 20 references. At least 80% should be relevant primary sources published within the last 10 years, unless older authoritative sources are essential. Editorials and brief reports may use fewer references when appropriate to their content.
• Ensure that every in-text citation has a corresponding reference and vice versa. Include DOI links or stable URLs when available.
• Submit the main manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) using the current JLKM Article Template. PDF files are not accepted as the main manuscript.
• Number tables and figures, cite them in the text, and provide clear titles or captions and source information where applicable.

6. Ethics and Declarations

Provide statements on author contributions, funding, conflicts of interest, and data availability. Where applicable, include the ethics committee name and approval number, informed consent, consent for publication of identifiable information, and permission to reproduce copyrighted material. Explain when ethics approval is not required. Keep the review file anonymized without omitting information needed to assess research ethics.

All article types undergo editorial screening and double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly and ethical criteria and are independent of APC payment.

7. Template and Submission

Prepare the manuscript using the official JLKM Article Template and submit it through the online submission system. Incomplete submissions may be returned for correction before review. Questions may be sent to staff@jurnalkesmas.co.id.
