screening for plagiarism
Plagiarism Screening Policy
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Lentera Kesehatan Masyarakat (JLKM) are screened for plagiarism using the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool. The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Any submission found to contain such violations will be immediately rejected.
JLKM is committed to upholding international standards of academic integrity. Authors are expected to submit original work and to appropriately cite any content that is derived from other sources.
What Constitutes Plagiarism?
Plagiarism occurs when an author uses ideas, data, or language from another source without proper attribution. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text verbatim without quotation marks and citation;
-
Paraphrasing someone else's ideas without proper acknowledgment;
-
Submitting the same manuscript to multiple publications (self-plagiarism).
Even unintentional plagiarism is considered a serious academic offense and is unacceptable in scholarly publishing.
Citing Ideas and Words
-
When borrowing ideas—whether theoretical, methodological, or interpretive—from another author, a proper citation is required, even if the idea has been further developed.
-
When using exact words or phrases, quotation marks must be used along with a citation. Reproducing four or more consecutive words from another source without quotation marks is considered plagiarism, even if cited.
Editorial Action
JLKM takes breaches of academic ethics seriously. The editorial team reserves the right to reject or retract any manuscript found to violate this policy, even after acceptance.
